Medical Transcription Certification

Certifications

Unlike many healthcare professions, there are no regulations governing the practice of medical transcription. You don’t have to be licensed or certified to be a medical transcriptionist (although, of course, transcriptionists must abide by HIPAA and other healthcare regulations). However, there are several industry credentials that may improve your job prospects or earning potential.

Learn more about:

  • The Registered Medical Transcriptionist Credential
  • The Certified Medical Transcriptionist Credential
  • The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity

Earning an industry credential is another way to advance your medical transcription career after completing your training. Improving your typing skills can also help improve your income—take our free typing test to see how your skills rank.
